The accent of my knowledge and interest lays on the period 1850 up till now: the backgrounds, the beginning and development of modernism of postmodernism and every stream that came after that. Within this epoque the postwar cityplanning and architecture (the wederopbouw period 1940-1965), is one of my specialties.
I have researched and wrote upon several areas from the wederopbouw period. These areas of national importance were selected by the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE)and published in the Atlas van de wederopbouw van Nederland. The area’s are: Hengelo centre, Katwijk aan Zee boulevardzone, Rotterdam eastern part centre, Nijmegen centre, Oostburg, Heerlen Vrieheide, Maastricht De Pottenberg, Amsterdam Westelijke Tuinsteden, Rotterdam Ommoord, Den Haag Mariahoeve, Utrecht De Halve Maan, Den Bosch Plan Zuid / De Pettelaar, Breda De Heuvel, Eindhoven ’t Hool, Hengelo Klein Driene I en II.
On older subject I published about is the Watergraafsmeer: I wrote an outline history in bookform about this polder commissioned by bookshop Linnaeus, Amsterdam. Another private commissioner is Hotel V, Amsterdam.
Other heritage organisations in the collective sector I worked for are: the councils of Amsterdam and Leiden and Arcam (architecture centre Amsterdam).
Presentations about subjects in the profile above I do on request. I did presentations about Buitenveldert, Amsterdam concrete architecture and the Amsterdam School.
On request I am available as free lance guide for tours through buildings, areas and musea.
